“We are in communication with the ship and there are no reports of injuries, all the crew are safe. There is only minor damage to the vessel’s hull, but there has been no (sea) pollution from cargo or water ingress (into the vessel’s hull),” the shipping company said, adding that the vessel was hit by a shell about 240 kilometers off the coast of Oman in the Persian Gulf.
The Israeli government declined to comment on the attack on the ship. Iranian media do not write about the attack on the ship in the Gulf of Oman east of the Strait of Hormuz. The attack was carried out after the vessel left the Omani port of Suhar.
The attacks are generally blamed on Iran or its Shia-backed Yemeni Houthis. Some of the attacks have targeted vessels associated with Israel, which Tehran considers its archenemy in the region and is calling for their destruction.
