Former US President Donald Trump announced Tuesday from the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida that he will run for the White House for the third time in 2024. for the presidency.

Trump has vowed to prevent incumbent Joe Biden’s re-election in 2024, telling his supporters, “I’m going to make sure Biden doesn’t have another four years,” adding, “Our country can’t afford that.”
In a speech that lasted just over an hour, Trump spoke to hundreds of his supporters in a hall decorated with several chandeliers and dozens of American flags.
“To make America great again, I am announcing my candidacy for President of the United States tonight,” Trump told a crowd of family members and donors.
On Tuesday, Trump’s aides filed papers with the US Federal Election Commission to form a committee called “Donald J. Trump as President of America 2024.”
Trump has avoided name-calling, as he has during his other public appearances, choosing instead to criticize the Biden presidency and review what he called political achievements during his tenure.
“Two years ago we were a great nation and soon we will be a great nation again,” he said.

“Donald Trump has failed America,” Biden said in a tweet from Bali, where he was attending the last day of the G20 summit, accompanying the tweet with a video saying Trump, during his presidency, has presided over a “pro-rich rigged economy” and “attacked the health care system” and “spoiled extremists” and “attack women’s rights” and “incite violent gangs” to try to overturn Biden’s 2020 victory.

In his speech, Trump made clear he would push for the death penalty for drug dealers, term limits for lawmakers and the reinstatement of military members who have been fired for refusing to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
The former president expected leftist groups, Washington and the media to oppose his campaign. “But we won’t be afraid, we will persevere and move forward,” he said.
