Music releases of the week
Pablo Alborán feat. Maria Becerra, “Friends”
Spanish singer-songwriter Pablo Alborán leads our list of musical releases of the week with “Amigos”, a collaboration with María Becerra. The single is part of his upcoming studio album, ‘La cuarta hoja’.
The theme is about the wholeheartedness of friends, how they can be there for the good and for the party, but also to tell you those things you may not want to hear.
“La cuarta hoja” will go on sale on December 2 and contains songs such as “Castillos de arena”, nominated in the recording of the year 2022 category at the Latin Grammys 2022.
Juanes, “Forbidden loves”
Last week, the Colombian star Juanes presented “Amores prohibidos”, his first song since the release of “ORIGEN”, an album that collects the songs that are part of the singer’s musical DNA.
The topic was born during the coronavirus pandemic, explains Juanes.
“The idea for the song came from an article I read during the pandemic about the difficulty of keeping secret relationships due to the challenges of meeting the other person,” says Juanes.
The theme takes us back to the rock for which many people around the world fell in love with the sound of the Medellín native.
“Musically, if you take the beat out of the song, it’s actually cumbia, a type of Colombian folk music, but when you put the rest of the production and the loop back in, it takes on a bit of a cumbia-esque sound and vibe Andrew 3000 and Hello. Then I added a Chuck Berry-esque guitar solo to give it a classic rock and roll vibe, and blend the sound with poetic lyrics about that person you meet in the dark when no one else can see,” says the singer.
“Amores prohibidos” will be part of his next record production.
Nathy Peluso, “You are formidable”
Nathy Peluso returns to our list of music premieres with a song where she demonstrates the art of seduction of a strong and determined woman.
Peluso ran a campaign on his social networks ahead of the launch in which he asked his followers to tell him that “it was amazing.”

The multifaceted Peluso has recruited the actor and model Jon Kortajarena, who is her target of seduction in the video clip, co-produced by the interpreter with Little Spain, known for being behind the aesthetics of C. Tangana’s “El Madrileño” era.
Karol G and Ovy on drums, “Cairo”
Karol G presented this Sunday “Cairo”, a song he made with his regular collaborator, Colombian producer Ovy On The Drums.
This city in Egypt was always on the list of places Karol G wanted to visit, the singer said through a post on her Instagram account.
“Besides being in my Top 5 places in the world I dreamed of visiting, I had a slightly more ambitious vision in this country: to close the roads, the sphinx and the pyramids of Egypt to make a video that was always in my mind, in my goals to achieve and in my heart! That majestic moment when I myself arrived at this place and saw that after how difficult it was to reach it, IT WAS ALREADY A REALITY, I keep it as one of the best feelings in my life!!! Making dreams come true while working and telling the world about them is priceless!” said the interpreter.
Joaquina, “Instagram Girls”
The young promise of Latin pop Joaquina presented the third single of her career, “Niñas de Instagram”.
It’s a song that talks about how there are young people who get lost to fit into the mirage of Instagram, where some people show unattainable perfection. The young singer-songwriter clarifies, through her Instagram account, that the topic is not a criticism of social networks, but rather invites self-reflection.
“This song is by no means a criticism of social networks, (much less Instagram), which today are the best tools to share our work and communicate. But it is a criticism of ourselves: of that effort to show a perfection that does not exist, of the constant (and often unaware) comparison in which we live, of those millennial dreams and unattainable standards of beauty that we have inculcated as a society. Everything we think and never say,” shares Joaquina.
The singer is part of the first generation of maestro Julio Reyes Copello’s academic program together with the Abbey Road Institute.
This song, along with her other two singles, “Freno” and “Rabia”, will be part of Joaquina’s first EP, “Los mejores años”, which will be released in 2023.
