Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Benfica and Portugal midfielder Joao Mario has revealed the fact that there has been a dispute between Cristiano Ronaldo and his Manchester United teammate, Bruno Fernandez.
Social media activists have released a large-scale video clip, showing a “cold” handshake between duo Ronaldo and Fernandez, during their meeting in the Portuguese national team locker room.
Activists said Fernandez glaringly ignored Cristiano’s handshake after he attacked ‘Red Devils’ management and Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag, in an interview with British journalist, Piers Morgan , via the newspaper “The Sun”.
Joao Mario denied the existence of a quarrel between them, as he said during the press conference on Portugal’s preparation for the World Cup in Qatar: “It was a joke between them, because Bruno was the last to arrive (at the Portugal pitch ), and Cristiano asked him if he had come by boat. It was a joke between them, they played together.” .
Fernandez had stumbled to join his country’s ranks at the right time, which caused him to be late for the Portuguese national team’s training camp in preparation for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Ronaldo and Fernandez are among the Portuguese national team’s most important players and fans are counting on them to lead the team to the 22nd World Cup title.
Portugal are in Group H, alongside Uruguay, Ghana and South Korea.
