‘Balenciaga’ deletes official Twitter account concerned over rise in hate speech – WWD JAPAN

“BALENCIAGA” deleted the official Twitter account (TWITTER) on November 14th. Balenciaga is the first major fashion brand to leave Twitter after being bought by Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk. .

After the acquisition, Musk became CEO of Twitter. Concerns about the rise of hate speech and fake news on Twitter have spread due to its management policy emphasizing “free speech,” and General Motors (PFIZER), Dyson (DYSON)) have temporarily suspended advertising. Celebrities like Gigi Hadid have also deleted their accounts after she fired Twitter’s human rights team.

Balenciaga had around 950,000 Twitter followers before deleting his account. When asked by British fashion outlet The Business of Fashion, Balenciaga declined to comment but confirmed they had deleted the account. Footwear News also contacted Balenciaga’s parent company Kering but did not receive a response in time.
