Director Bhadran shared a ‘guilty’ note about film ‘Pandaran’ directed by Leo Thaddeus. Bhadran says he is very sad that he didn’t get to see the film when it came out, and when he was sure he would see it, the film disappeared from theatres. Bhadran also mentions the paths taken by Leo Thaddeus who came to cinema as his co-director.
“I post this post with a guilty feeling. Today I was watching Leo Thaddeus film “Twelve” in my home theater at the insistence of my son in Bangalore who was only working as my assistant. Today was the proudest day of my career cinematic. My compliments to Leo for such a graceful expression. I am very saddened that when it came out in theatres, it was changed to Tomorrow Tomorrow. When I decided to watch it, the film disappeared from theatres.
I remember there was a flurry of objections from the cameraman to the production manager at my production house for assisting my scripts and making me a partner on the very first film. How can it be right to make a partner who has no experience working in cinema? They don’t know my firm belief that everything will be fine.
Unable to survive, I remember Leo leaning on the hotel room door step and whimpering, “I’m leaving, sir.” “You have to resist no matter who opposes you, if you want to learn cinema, you were born with all this spitting and cursing,” he was convinced. Then he was with me in the next film Udayon.
He did not give up the movie fever and kept the industry in adverse conditions. If my words had gone unheard, would this film have been made? We have to think maybe he only existed to have this movie. The famous truth of “Jesus and 12 Disciples” was brought against a contemporary background and without mentioning the Lord Jesus and his disciples who united the seas and straits and converted those who lived in evil.
If Leo thinks this movie was a financial failure in theaters, then he’s wrong. Don’t forget that the ‘victory’ at the end of the word ‘failure’ stands for tomorrow…..we must continue with these new thoughts…” – said Bhadran.
