NEW YORK – A new bounty strategy has been rolled out in a New York community in hopes of drawing attention to a father’s unsolved murder at a funeral last year.
Jeremy Logan’s family renewed their call for justice on Monday as authorities increased the reward for information leading to their shooter’s arrest. The prize offer, increased to $7,500, will only be offered through the end of the year.
Logan was a beloved son and father when he was shot and killed by a gunman in June 2021 while attending a friend’s funeral.
“It’s very disturbing to know that someone can lose their life for showing love or just being the brightest person in the room. My grandson has given more to the community than most citizens who are paid to do so,” Chynna said , Logan’s aunt. . Smith-Mars said.
The mayor of Mount Vernon spoke alongside the family to encourage people to speak up for family and community.
“We hear too often, ‘oh, the street knows, the street knows.’ But what the streets know and what the streets will say makes the difference between rumors and justice. So if you know, please come forward and say it,” Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard said.
As the family prepares to celebrate the holidays without Logan this year, they cling to his legacy: a loving father who set out to bring joy to his neighborhood and loved ones.
