The Meteora publishing house closes after more than 200 published books

This was announced by the Meteora publishing house, promoted by Maria Dolors Sàries and Jordi Fernando its closure after 22 years and more than 200 books publishedthe label reported this in a statement Monday.

“After so much struggle, happiness, hard work, disagreements, smiles and tears, satisfactions and good memories, Sàrries and Fernando deserve a break, which they have been enjoying for some time in their own way, and for this reason it was necessary to put an end to the ‘meteoric’ route: December 1, 2022,” they said.

Meteora was officially incorporated into March 2000 and started with three collections: one of the illustrated biographies, Vides il llegates, and two novels, Papers de fortuna -in Catalan– and Tahona de letras -in Spanish–.

Over the years they expanded their collections with others such as La roda de Faistos dedicated to monographs on the plastic arts; test programs; Mytilene of poetry, as well as works related to medicine and detective fiction.

The first title published by the publishing house was ‘Lola Anglada o la création del paradís propi’, by Montserrat Castillo, and the last, the book of poems ‘L’anell’ by Jordi Llavina, in a career in which he edited about 220 titles by up to 140 authors.

Authors who have published with Meteora include Patricia Gabancho -who sold 18,000 copies with ‘The price of being Catalan’–, Feliu Formosa, Claustre Rafart, Jaume Fuster, Antònia Carré-Pons, Marta PessarrodonaJordi de Manuel, Joan Santanach, Josep Puigbó e Sebastian Benassaramong many others.

The publisher will celebrate an “end of party” event on December 1 at the Ona de Gràcia bookstorewhich will include the interpretation of pieces for piano and saxophone by Mònica Trueba and Pau Sanchís.
