Using Dell AW3423DW monitor – Daily Economy

Last March, Dell Technologies (Dell) released the AW3423DW monitor in Korea.

This product was manufactured as part of Dell’s “Alienware” gaming brand. As the name suggests, it features an alien shape on the back of the product.

The screen size is 34 inches with a resolution of 3440×1400. Due to the nature of journalists who mainly play car games, there are many things to check the situation on both sides during the game, but the panel of the monitor has a 21:9 aspect ratio, so i was able to see a larger area.

The maximum brightness reaches 1,000 nits and the adoption of OLED makes the expression of the dark part natural compared to LCD. GtG (gray to gray) response speed of 0.1ms, DCI-P3 color gamut of 99.3% and so on are comparable in terms of specifications.

However, in the case of refresh rate, when connected with a DP cable, it is supported up to 175Hz, while an HDMI cable only supports up to 100Hz, so you need to pay attention.

On the other hand, it is a disadvantage that the price of over 2 million won may seem burdensome and burn-in may occur due to the nature of OLED. The reporter did not experience any burn-in while using the product for nearly a month. In this regard, Dell said: “We provide a warranty service that includes burn-in for three months after purchase.”

Due to the nature of gaming products, blue light comes out from different places, such as the power button of the monitor and the back. Basically, it is set to emit sky blue light according to Alienware’s concept. If this color looks cool, you can change it to another color on the OSD, and if you feel uncomfortable with the light coming out, you can turn it off altogether. The OSD supports multiple languages such as English, but not Korean.

The product itself has a USB port and a 3.5mm audio port, so it can be used as a sort of dock. In particular, there are four USB-A ports, so it is possible to connect various devices such as external hard drives as well as keyboards and mice. However, it was disappointing that there was no USB-C terminal even though it was a new product released in 2022.
