In his Angelus prayer address on Sunday, the Pope hoped that the COP27 climate summit in Egypt will achieve substantial results, and expressed his gratitude to those who are actively engaging in promoting the “Laudato Si Action Platform” .
(Vatican News Network)Let the cry of the earth and the poor be answered. This is what Pope Francis underlined in his speech after leading the faithful to the recitation of the Angelus in the Vatican last November 13th.
The Pope told the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square that a year has passed since the launch of the Laudato Sí Action Platform, which “promotes ecological conversion and a lifestyle consistent with it”. The Pope thanked all those involved in these initiatives. In the last year around 6 thousand people have taken part in these activities, “individuals, families, associations, businesses, religious groups, cultural and health institutions”.
“This is a good start to a seven-year journey to answer the voices of the planet and the poor. I encourage this mission, which is essential to the future of humanity. May this mission further concrete community commitments.”
At the end of his speech, the Pope recalled the COP27 climate summit underway in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, and hoped that the summit would lead to concrete results. “I hope that the world will move forward with courage and determination on the path traced by the Paris Agreement”, said the Pope.
