Sony PlayStation VR2, Mediatek’s first dedicated VR chipset

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) reported on the 14th that PlayStation VR2 (hereinafter referred to as PSVR2), which will be released in February next year, will be equipped with a virtual reality (VR) chipset developed by MediaTek for the first time.

According to reports, MediaTek said at an event to showcase its first VR chipset, “Our first VR chipset will be used in Sony’s upcoming PSVR2.” However, he didn’t mention any details about the VR-specific chipset.

PSVR2 will start presale on the 15th and will be officially released on February 22 next year. It consists of a PSVR2 headset, a PSVR2 sense controller, and stereo headphones. The domestic recommended consumer price for the basic set is set at 798,000 won.

The PSVR2 Sense controller charging cradle, which will be released on the same day, is sold separately for 58,800 won.
