The Air Show Tragedy in Texas America Present | DW extension

Two historic WWII era planes collided in mid-air and crashed in the United States. The accident occurred during the “Wings Over Dallas Airshow” in the state of Texas. Boeing B-17 “Flying Fortress” and Bell P-63 “Kingcobra” aircraft were involved.

Videos posted on online networks show dramatic scenes: you can see how the fighter plane rams the bomber at low altitude, the planes catch fire and hit the ground. The spectators are shocked.

It is not yet clear how many people were on board. Flying Fortress bombers usually have a crew of four to five, a “Kingcobra” has only one pilot. According to the firefighters, there were no casualties on the ground.

There is still no information on the cause of the accident. The National Transportation Safety Authority (NTSB) has launched an investigation.
