The US is still waiting for the vote count in Nevada and Arizona to know the new composition of the Senateas conspiracy theories about delayed ballot processing come to light.

Until yesterday, after last Tuesday’s elections, around 540,000 ballots remained to be counted in Arizona and 95,000 in Nevada, according to estimates by the CNN channel.

Information from other media shows that 78% of the votes have already been counted in the first of these states, giving Upper House Leader Mark Kelly an edge (with 51.7% of the vote) over Republican Blake Masters (46.1 ).

Meanwhile in Nevada, where 90% of ballots have already been tabulated, red-colored party member Adam Laxalt, former attorney general of the demarcation, narrowly surpassed Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, 49% against 48.

Although authorities have warned that the recount to deliver results could take days and even weeks, some conservatives have raised questions about the process.

During a talk show appearance, Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake said she was “100 percent sure we’re going to win,” but accused election officials of “being slow, dragging their feet, and delaying the unavoidable”.

The Republican is recognized for repeating former President Donald Trump’s (2017-2021) theories about alleged fraud in the 2020 election, which had been barred from all evidence, and is running for office with Democrat Katie Hobbs, who has rejected red-ranking efforts to undo Joe Biden’s victory in the state.

In the face of those comments, election officials yesterday sought to dispel false information about how long it took to analyze the votes.

Bill Gates, chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, also a Republican, called Lake’s comments “insulting,” especially to the people who work from 2 to 6 p.m. to announce the winner.

Meanwhile, Trump has capitalized on the situation, pointing out on his social media platform that Clark County “has a corrupt voting system” and told Laxalt to “be careful” by feeding disinformation as he had in his presidential career two years ago. he remarks. the television network.

Clark’s electoral clerk, Joe Gloria, told the press that the former president is “misinformed, two years later, about the law and our electoral processes that ensure the integrity of county and state elections.”

Nevada laws state that subdivisions can receive postmarked ballots in the mail on Election Day through Saturday, and voters have until Monday to resolve any issues with their signatures on the ballots.

Tuesday’s poll will redefine control of Congress from deciding 35 of 100 seats in the Senate and 435 in the House of Representatives, as well as appointing 36 of 50 governors and other posts.

At the moment the specialized sites assign 48 seats to the Democrats in the upper house and 49 to the conservatives, with the contention to reach the majority centered on Arizona, Nevada and Georgia, the latter with a second round of elections scheduled for the next 6 from December.

Democrat Mark Kelly was re-elected to the US Senate for Arizona after defeating Republican Blake Masters, moving his party closer to controlling the upper house of Congress for the next two years of Joe Biden’s presidency. At the moment Democrats and Republicans are tied, with 49 seats each.

Now there are only two states left on which it will depend who controls the Senate: Nevada and Georgia. Republicans would need to win both to get a majority of seats, while Democrats would only need to win one more state, as a 50-50 tie would mean a tie vote for Vice President Kamala Harris, who would win the tie in favor of her party.
