Why is WSBK Mandalika quiet for foreign audiences?

Jakarta

Different than last season, World Superbike or WSBK Mandalika 2022 deserted by out-of-town spectators and foreigners. This is demonstrated by the sale of admission tickets recently announced by the committee.

Xplorin as a digital platform facilitating the sale of WSBK tickets Mandalika ensures that, as of last Thursday (10/11/2022), at least 30,510 tickets had been sold to spectators. While 70 percent are local residents in Lombok.

“As of today (yesterday), 30,510 tickets have been sold. We really appreciate that, because 70 percent of those watching are NTB people,” said Corcec Xplorin boss Norman Haka Sulaiman, quoted by BetweenFriday (11/11/2022).

Meanwhile, according to him, spectators from outside the city and abroad can be ‘counted on the fingers’. Indeed, he said, the number of foreign or foreign viewers is very limited.

“From overseas there are Malaysia and Australia. But for overseas, the number is actually not that much,” he said.

According to Haka, there are a number of things that made the foreign public less interested in the Mandalika WSBK 2022. One of them and the most important one is their curiosity about the Mandalika Circuit. In the past, he said, many local and foreign tourists came just to see the track, not the race.

“According to the enthusiasm of WSBK there are now a lot of local spectators. Maybe it was because the euphoria was the first time that many came from outside the area,” he explained.

Also, Haka added, instead of watching WSBK, local and foreign tourists would prefer to watch Mandalika MotoGP next year. Because the league is considered more crowded and ‘familiar’.

“From the outside (the city and the country) they can also be divided because there is the G20 and they are more looking forward to seeing the MotoGP next season,” he said.
