“My cash cap? 10 euros”. The provocation is by Nino Cartabellotta, president of Gimbe, the Foundation which aims to promote the dissemination and application of the best scientific evidence with independent research, training and scientific information, in order to improve people’s health. The research and health expert, who has become a reference point for data on the pandemic from Covid-19, has published on Twitter the photo of his open wallet: 4 credit cards and a 10 euro sheet stand out. The commentary is lapidary: “My cash ceiling”.

Cartabellotta made it clear with irony that he did not agree with the decision of the Meloni government to raise the cash ceiling to 5,000 euros, parameterising it to the European average, where, however, the undeclared is clearly lower than Italy. To date, there is little scientific research on the subject and there is no definitive answer to the question of whether or not greater circulation of cash favors tax evasion. However, as “pagellapolitica.it” points out, limiting the use of cash has a positive impact in reducing the so-called black.
