On Monday 7 November a 13-year-old boy from Drobeta Turnu Severin threw himself into the void from an abandoned building. New information appearing in the public space creates another version regarding the reason for the suicide.

The first hypothesis on the death of John, who later turned out to be the son of a priest, was linked to a “deception of love”. But on the very day of his funeral, Thursday 10 November, shocking new revelations have been exposed in public spacefollowing the discussions that a young English woman, originally from Mehedinți, by profession “digital creator”, had with several people from the circle of acquaintances of the teenager.
According to them, the cause of the suicide would have been completely different from what was initially imagined. New charges are now being leveled at the boy’s father, who is said to have been violent with all family members.
Following the new revelations, the Directorate-General for Social Welfare and Child Protection (DGASPC) Mehedinți has launched an investigation to find out if there is a real danger to the other siblings of the child who committed suicide and, if so , to take the necessary measures for them and their mother.
Voices for Democracy and Justice Association – VeDem Just – asked the DGASPC, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of the Family, the Child Advocate and the BOR (Romanian Orthodox Church) to officially report this case.

It is also said that the teenager would have had suicidal behaviors in the past as well, which may be confirmed by ex / current friends / girlfriends who have managed to convince him to give up such thoughts.

An association asks state authorities to intervene

VeDem Just representatives say they will make the necessary evidence available to all authorities.
Therefore, those of Child Protection are asked to intervene urgently to protect Ioan’s brothers and the forfeiture of parental rights, the Prosecutor’s Office – investigations into the “determination and facilitation of suicide”, and the Romanian Orthodox Church – the start of a urgent inspection of the child’s father.
In the case of ministries, an urgent amendment of the legislation is requested to create internal procedures regarding the reporting by teachers of cases of abuse committed against minors, but also reporting by teachers and students of cases of sexual violence against minors and trafficking in minors, among others.
