Freiburg (dpa) – The Freiburg police authorities have messed up a spontaneous apparition in the pedestrian zone for Sportfreunde Stiller. The band was formed in the historic center with mobile drums, guitars and amplifiers. As soon as the first song “A Compliment” was played, two uniformed officers from the city intervened and banned the mini-concert, as can be seen in a video on Instagram. Several media have reported on it.
The band confirmed the incident the day before Thursday and stated in writing: “The outage was provided on a very friendly note that there are a number of places in central Freiburg that you can play unannounced like this. . In this regard it was also our ignorance that led to this friendly enough interruption. “
A spokesman for the city of Freiburg announced that the police authorities had not expressly banned the band from playing. The band was informed of the rules and then stopped playing. Musicians around singer Peter Brugger should not expect consequences. The authority made use of his discretion and left it with a verbal warning, the spokeswoman said.
Sportfreunde Stiller said he was a little disappointed when the authorities intervened. They asked “why after two years of blocking and facing the budding fun together, why not turn a blind eye for a moment?”
