Biography

Kepler was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on December 27, 1571, to a lower-middle-class family in a small town on the outskirts of the Black Forest in Germany. He has a father named Heinrich and his mother Katharina Guldenmann.

When Kepler was five, his father left him to earn a living as a mercenary, while his mother was an herbalist and healer, who later tried to use magic to make ends meet.

When Kepler was young he was very susceptible to disease, contracted smallpox which left his vision permanently damaged and his hands were paralyzed. But behind it all, his ability to calculate numbers amazes others.


Even his mother often taught Kepler about nature, always taking his son out of the house at night just to see stars, comets and lunar eclipses.

This is what makes Kepler interested in all things related to astronomy. So it is no stranger if his name is well known in Kepler’s law to this day.

These laws determine the motion of the planets around the Sun in the Solar System, it was discovered by an astronomer and mathematician named Giovanni Kepler.
