There will be a surprise in November for the gas bill. The new calculation method for gas users reveals a positive note.

In this period the Italian families are terrified of bills due to the various price increases. The crisis is international and the increases in the bill are feared by all. However, it seems that at the end of November something will change with regard to gas.
We speak of a decrease in energy costs following the depreciation of the raw material. Therefore, the price increases will be very contained. There has already been a drop of around 6% compared to the previous quarter’s rates. The forecast bodes well thanks to the calculation introduced by the Arera Authority.
Because the gas bill is falling
The old calculation methodology would have led to increases in gas bills of up to 300 cents per cubic meter. However, the new procedure, which came into effect in October, offers an incredible surprise to millions of people.

The reference price for gas it became on a monthly basis and no longer quarterly. The months to consider would be July, August and September. In practice, it is as if the cost of raw materials has dropped in the last month.
Now it is hoped that this good news can also come true for the electricity bills for which the usual method of calculation remains in force. The request comes directly from the National Consumers Union.
The motivation for this is the need to provide one greater periodicity billing as part of the protection service, in order to allow end customers to know their spending more frequently and to be able to redistribute bill payments over several months.
The measure concerns above all the families which are in the conditions of protection, which to date are 7.3 million domestic customers. This measure will remain in force until January 2023. The Authority has reduced the increase in the reference price of electricity for the typical household under protection to + 59%.
