NEW YORK (Reuters) – The US Energy Information Administration said Wednesday that US stocks rose last week, while spirits and gasoline stocks fell.
Crude oil inventories rose 3.9 million barrels last week to 440.8 million barrels, compared to analysts’ expectations in a Reuters poll, an increase of 1.4 million barrels.
U.S. gasoline inventories fell 900,000 barrels during the week to 205.7 million barrels, compared to expectations of a 1.1 million barrel decline.
Stocks of distillates, which include diesel and heating fuel, fell by 500,000 barrels during the week to 106.3 million barrels, compared to expectations for a decline of 800,000 barrels.
Net imports of crude oil from the United States increased by 653,000 barrels per day.
