‘Resignation’; Rishi Sunak is the first to step down from the government
London: Rishi Sunak (Rishi Sunak) first resigns from government in Great Britain.
Gavin Williamson, a prominent member of the government and closest to Rishi Sunak, resigned Tuesday night following allegations of threats to colleagues.
Gavin Williamson’s resignation came after allegations of threatening a member of parliament and evidence of this was published in the London Times.
Gavin Williamson himself has released his resignation through a letter shared on his Twitter account. Williamson was a minister without a portfolio.
Four days ago, the London Times published a text message sent by Williamson threatening a fellow Member of Parliament.
A senior public official said Williamson constantly threatened them and on one occasion even said he would kill them.
Williamson said in his resignation that he had apologized for the messages and was cooperating fully with the investigation.
But he denied the allegations of intimidation.
“I do not accept the nature of these claims. But I understand that these accusations distract people from the good things the government is doing for the British people.
So I decided to stay away from the government altogether. “This way I can fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation of the complaints and make it clear that I have done nothing wrong,” Williamson said in his resignation.
Boris Johnson stepped down as Prime Minister last July following the Party Gate controversy and the resignation of ministers including Rishi Sunak. Later, Liz Truss was elected the new Prime Minister after defeating Rishi Sunak in the Conservative Party elections.
But because there was great criticism of economic policies and successive ministers resigned, Lis Truss also resigned within 45 days of taking office. After this, Rishi Sunak took office as Prime Minister.
