New Delhi: Next year’s fight for the world title in women’s boxing, where India is getting stronger, will be held in the country itself. The capital New Delhi will be the site of the super fights. India had previously been denied hosting of the Men’s World Championships for non-payment of the prescribed dues. The Women’s World Championships were held in India in 2006 and 2018.
The announcement of the date will be made after the visit of the president of the International Boxing Association Umar Krumlev, who will arrive in the country in the coming days. It will be held in Jawaharlal Nehru Maidan, New Delhi.
India has won three medals including Nikhat Sarin’s gold in the last World Championships held in Turkey. The Men’s World Championships will be held in Tashkent in May next year. The current prize pool in the men’s category will double at next year’s world championships.
