From Wednesday there will also be mobile speed cameras along the Brabant roads

Motorists: take note. From now on, speed cameras can also appear in unexpected places. Mobile speed cameras have been installed since Tuesday and also in Brabant since Wednesday. Thirty more “flexible flashes” will be added next year.

“Speed cameras are not there to increase public treasury, but to promote road safety,” says traffic expert Paul van de Coevering of the University of Breda. He can only applaud the fact that mobile speed cameras will also be installed in Brabant.

Over the past two years, various tests have been carried out with the mobile speed camera. “The great advantage of such a pole is that it can be installed quickly without requiring permits. Thanks to the solar panels, there is no need to even lay electrical cables.”

In Brabant, Bergen op Zoom (Randweg West) and Tilburg (Ringbaan-Zuid) are the first to know about the mobile speed camera. “These poles work well in places where it’s easy to drive too fast,” says traffic expert Breda. “Think about the places where the work is done on the road. As soon as it’s finished, they can even leave.”

“Even wide roads often invite you to accelerate, which leads to disturbing and dangerous situations,” continues the traffic expert. “Think of Heense Molen, where the crossing was not without risk.”

“The speed camera, speed camera notifications and mobile speed camera work psychologically“says Paul van de Coevering.” Drivers know they are at risk and are more aware of their speed. Often drivers don’t drive too fast on purpose, but this happens “automatically” because they don’t seem to be accelerating. There is no cure for the infamous speeder. ”
