Brunei Darussalam is officially in the same group as Indonesian national from AFF Cup 2022 after eliminating Brunei in the playoffs.
Brunei advanced as one of the AFF Cup contenders after winning against Timor Leste in the AFF Cup playoffs. Thus, Brunei will be in Group A with Thailand, Philippines, Indonesian national team and Cambodia.
In the playoff second leg, Timor Leste could win over Brunei at the end of the first round. Mouzinho successfully broke through Brunei’s door as injury time entered the second minute.
After a goal in the first half, both teams failed to score in the last 45 minutes of the match. The 1-0 score for East Timor lasted until the end of the match.
Even though they lost in this duel, Brunei himself has the right to qualify for the 6-3 overall win over Timor Leste. This is inseparable from the success of Brunei winning 6-2 in the first leg.
For East Timor, the defeat of Brunei is somewhat disappointing. Because they can no longer cheer the AFF Cup title as in the 2020 edition.
In the 2020 AFF Cup, Timor Leste is in Group A with Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines and Myanmar. Timor Leste finished the group stage with keeper status without winning any points.
