The youth campaign of the diocese of Trier “We against racism” is again organizing a virtual charity event together with the humanitarian organization Caritas International on Friday 18 November from 20:00. This time with the title “Songs of Solidarity”.

Neuwied. The goal: to collect donations for people in war and crisis zones like Ukraine, Ethiopia or South Sudan so that people there can receive food, blankets and psychosocial help.

In addition to bands, choirs and solo artists from the diocese of Trier and all over Germany, there will also be the rock groups Kölsch Kasalla, Cat Ballou and Die Höhner and the singer Max Raabe with his palace orchestra. Celebrities such as Galileo presenter Stefan Gödde also support the campaign and can be seen making statements.

In addition to the music and information videos, this year there are also sporting challenges to take part in before the event, in which the German eight, sprinter Sophia Junk and decathlete Kai Kazmirek (both of LG Rhein-Wied of Neuwied). “For every kilometer traveled in sport, one of the different companies donates one euro to the aid of Caritas Germany for people in need in war and crisis zones. We want to circumnavigate the world together,” explains pastoral officer and co-initiator Christopher Hoffmann. . “Are you running?” asked Ambassador Kai Kazmirek and invited individuals and clubs to start running for a good cause. And Trier Olympic rowing champion Richard Schmidt adds: “Many people have a great need – we want to change things together for them. Our goal: to show solidarity!”
In addition, footballers Erik Durm and Philipp Hercher of 1. FC Kaiserslautern demand that a football trick be imitated, which is also rewarded with a donation.

But people are also severely threatened by hunger and conflict in Syria, Ethiopia, South Sudan and many other regions of the world.
