Didier Drogba, former Chelsea viral striker, convert to Islam, really?

Yamoussoukro

An upload on social media that quoted the former striker was missing Chelsea, Didier Drogba, converted and embraced Islam. It’s true?

The rumors began through a social media upload, shared by a figure named Dr Mohamed Salah. He uploaded a photo of Drogba making a prayer gesture.

Drogba made the gesture of bringing his hands to his chest, then washing them on his face. This style is what makes it called embracing Islam.

The problem then spread everywhere. Many of the photos of Drogba praying are said to be evidence that the former Ivory Coast player converted to Islam, being formerly a Catholic.

Until the end, Didier Drogba make clarifications. The man now 44 seems amused to see the rumors circulating, even though he calls himself not a convert. That is, the issue of him embracing Islam is fake news or a hoax.

“The story went viral, huh,” Drogba wrote, with a laughing emoji attached.

“But I didn’t change my religion. It was just a form of respect for my Muslim brother, who I visited in my village.”

“Just a moment of togetherness. May you be blessed with love and abundant blessings for all,” Drogba tweeted.

Then, Drogba followed up on her tweet. “Who doesn’t want to be blessed?” she said, referring to an uploaded photo of him praying that it went viral.

Drogba himself is known as a devout Catholic. He often makes cross cheers after scoring goals.

After bringing Chelsea Winner of the Champions League in 2012, Drogba himself admitted that it was not for his skill. He called it destiny of God and an answer to his prayers.

“It was destiny, I really believe in destiny. I prayed a lot. It was written a long time ago. God is fantastic. This team is fantastic,” he said. Didier Drogba at that time.
