NEW YORK – November is a special time for our community as we celebrate Puerto Rican Heritage Month, in which Isla del Encanto is honored for its contributions to the community, its cultural and gastronomic richness and the incomparable joy of its people.
There are several events in our area that celebrate Puerto Rico and honor all that its culture means to the community. Here are some of them:
Puerto Rican HERITAGE INTERNATIONAL CINEMA FESTIVAL
The twelfth version of the Puerto Rican International Heritage Festival, Puerto Rican Heritage International Film Festival, It will take place November 9-13 and seeks to foster a collaborative environment for artists from all countries to explore issues inherent to Puerto Rico’s heritage, its diaspora, and to explore stories relevant to the Latin community at large.
People will be able to enjoy more than 60 films and short films of all genres that will be screened in different theaters and venues in the city.

One of the museums in the city of New York will be the place that will present, for the first time in nearly 50 years in a major institution in the country, a unique exhibition that will touch the hearts of Puerto Ricans and New Yorkers.
This is the exhibitionThere is no post-hurricane world: Puerto Rican art after Hurricane Maria“, in the Whitney Museum of American Artwhich will begin on November 23, 2022 and will be on display until April 23, 2023. Attendees will see more than fifty works by twenty artists from Puerto Rico and the diaspora, whose art has responded to the years of transformation since Hurricane Maria, a storm high impact category 4 that hit the island on 20 September 2017.

Puerto Rico National Craft Fair and Book Exhibition
The National Fair of Puerto Rican Artisans and Book Exhibition will open Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Hostos Community College from 12pm to 6pm

Feast of Puerto Rico BORIMIX
BORIMIX: Puerto Rico Fest 2022 is a month-long festival of Puerto Rican theater, dance, music and visual arts artists throughout the city. A collaboration between Teatro SEA, Teatro LATEA, The Clemente and CENTRO (Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College), BORIMIX makes Puerto Rican arts accessible to a multi-ethnic and multi-generational audience, promoting creative collaboration between Latin artists. BORIMIX 2022 will also feature Venezuela as a host country, as part of its annual tradition of recognizing and honoring mutual bonds and intersections between nations.
The festival will feature a variety of events throughout November, with a program that will highlight Puerto Rican and Venezuelan talent. BORIMIX will also honor the winners for their contributions to the city. The complete program is available on borimix.com.
