Indonesian men’s singles coach Irwansyah talks about the controversial moment of the duel Chou Tien Chen vs Antonio Ginting in the final Hylo Open 2022.
The controversial moment occurred when the match was played at 22-22 in the deciding match. A shot from Ginting in the front of the net was returned by Chou Tien Chen and was declared a foul by the referee.
“At that moment I was nervous looking at Ginting. Suddenly the referee said ‘do it’. I was also surprised at that moment because I didn’t know for sure what caused the referee to be declared a foul,” Irwansyah told CNN Indonesia on Monday. com (7/11).
The decision made by Ginting then leads 23-22. Chou Tien Chen then protested because he felt the referee’s decision was not right.
In addition to protesting to the referee, Chou Tien Chen also protested to the judges and service officers who entered the field.
At that moment, Irwansyah asked Ginting to stay focused on himself.
“At that moment, I instructed Ginting to stay focused. Because the game was at an important stage where a point meant a lot,” Irwansyah said.
Irwansyah himself said he didn’t know for sure the cause of Chou Tien Chen’s foul until the game was over and the players got off the podium. Because he hasn’t heard of it.
Ginting’s victory at the Hylo Open 2022 was Ginting’s second win this year. Previously, Ginting won the Singapore Open.
