Nîmes: the CGT calls for a strike this Thursday 10 to defend wages and pensions

Dialogue with other trade unions continues. But the CGT is the only one to launch this call for Thursday. Three rallies are planned, in Nîmes, Alès and Bagnols-sur-Cèze. Philippe Martinez, general secretary of the CGT will be present in the prefecture of Gard.

“For months, workers have been mobilizing to defend wages and purchasing power, the CGT continues to put pressure on wage and pension issues”, said Bruno Rivier to recall the slogan of the day of action this Thursday 10 November. The general secretary of the Gard CGT departmental union held a press conference on Monday, accompanied by Lionel Clément, a member of the departmental office.

Offers

“70% of French people retire at 60. This is also our position”, added Bruno Rivier. And in detail the proposals of the CGT for financing “the 15 billion euros needed to rebalance the pension system” : widening the basis of contributions to dividends paid to shareholders, to put capital to good use. Hence, that all income such as profit sharing, participation, employee savings, etc., be subject to contributions. The CGT is also defended “the establishment of an over-contribution on precarious jobs, the abolition of the ceiling on contributions on very high salaries, the fight against tax and social fraud of the richest”.

Inflation and speculation

The union believes that inflation is much higher than the officially announced 6%: “The domestic basket is 15%, gas and electricity from 12 to 15%, fuel 16%. And this latest increase affects the most disadvantaged who cannot afford to live near their home. Work”.

The CGT also calls for the implementation of the sliding scale of salaries, or their indexation to inflation: “It is not wages that create inflation but the increase in fuel costs and speculation on raw materials: Cac 40 companies have never made so many profits”.
