Chilean Jewish influencer targeted with hateful messages after visiting Israel

Tamara Rogers said she wanted to convert to Judaism after discovering she was of Jewish descent

Tamara Rogers, a teenager influencer and model in Chile, was the subject of a torrent of anti-Semitic posts online after announcing her intention to convert to Judaism following the discovery of her Jewish roots.

This decision specifically cost him 15,000 followers on his Instagram account.

This, however, didn’t prompt the 19-year-old model to back off and give up visiting Israel.

“Whenever I upload images of Israel, I get insulting comments and lose Instagram followers,” he said.

“It does not concern me. I remain faithful to my truth. If someone asks me if I regret the decision to convert and visit Israel, I would say no,” added the young woman.

Tamara Rogers discovered her Jewish origins after visiting the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland. She then came to Israel with other young Jews from all over the world as part of a trip organized by the “Israeli experience” organization.

This visit allowed her to acquire tools to defend the Israeli position should she discuss it.

“It’s a battle of conscience. I help represent Israel online and I consider it a privilege,” he said.

The influencer is currently volunteering at Hazerim, a kibbutz in southern Israel, and will be returning home to Chile in a few days.

Amos Hermon, president of “Israeli Experience”, said the online abuse following the young model’s visit to Israel came as no surprise to him.

“The phenomenon of young Jews arriving here and being abused online unfortunately derives from anti-Semitic movements trying to boycott Israel.”
