The causes of acute kidney finally revealed, not just a factor

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaPresident Director of the RSUP dott. Sardjito Yogyakarta, Eniarti explained the results of the pathogen panel examination of 12 pediatric patients suspected of having acute renal failure (ARF) at his hospital.

“Out of 12 patients, only 4 patients were able to undergo a kidney biopsy, a pathogen panel and metagenomics, and 3 of them were also tested for blood and urine toxicology,” said the chairman of the director. Eniarti, in an online press conference, Friday (04/11/2022).

Reporting from an official statement from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), the examination results showed that one child was detected with adenovirus, two SARSCoV2 children, one child with influenza and one Staphylococcus sp.

Meanwhile, the results of toxicology tests carried out on three patients showed that one patient was positive for diethylene glycol compounds (DEG).

“From the results of the toxicology tests on three patients, there was one patient who was found to have DEG, it was also known that the four patients had a history of taking syrup drugs,” Eni said.

“The cause of ARF may not be just a factor, from the results of the investigation in Yogyakarta the cause cannot be concluded. Because in fact the samples examined were only 3 samples. This is very little to make a conclusion,” he continued. .

For information, RSUP dott. Sardjito Yogyakarta treated 12 patients with acute kidney disease in children aged seven months to 13 years. Of the 12 patients, six patients were declared cured, while a further six patients were recorded as dead.
