(Reuters) – World number one Carlos Alcaraz announced Friday that he will miss the rest of the season due to an abdominal injury.
Alcaraz was injured in the quarter-finals of the Masters in Paris on the 4th. After receiving treatment, he retired. He will miss the ATP Finals (starting November 13) and the Davis Cup (starting November 25), the last game of the season.
According to the results of the exam, the player was injured in the left abdomen muscle and it should take about six weeks to recover.
Taylor Fritz (USA), ninth in the points standings, is expected to replace Alcaraz in the ATP finals.
