United States of America (USA) made verbal attacks against China And Russia in the Security Council forum United Nations (UN), finished North Korea (North Korea) this week launched a volley of missiles. Washington DC accuses Beijing and Moscow of “allowing” Pyongyang to do so.
As reported AFPOn Saturday (11/5/2022), US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield at a UN forum on Friday (4/11) condemned – without naming the countries – China and Russia, which in May vetoed the United States – led efforts to tighten sanctions against North Korea in response to previous launches.
Thomas-Greenfield said North Korea “enjoyed the full protection of these two advisers” – referring to China and Russia as member states of the United Nations Security Council.
“These members endeavored to justify the DPRK’s repeated violations and, in turn, empowered the DPRK and ridiculed this council,” said Thomas-Greenfield, using the official name of North Korea, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Furthermore, he called for ‘unity’ in the application of sanctions.
The flurry of North Korean missile launches comes as the US and South Korea are conducting massive joint air exercises, which Pyongyang has denounced as “aggressive and provocative”.
In his comments, Thomas-Greenfield dismissed criticism of the joint military exercises as “DPRK propaganda”. He insisted that the joint exercises “pose no threat” to other countries and stressed that President Joe Biden’s administration was open to dialogue.
