A total of five people were in the car when it collided with a truck before 04:30.
The closest relatives have been notified, police said.
Four in the hospital
In Dagbladet, police prosecutor Rikke Lund Lefdal in the Oslo police district says it is a 20-year-old woman who lost her life.
– She was pronounced dead on the spot. The other four are in the hospital. We don’t know anything concrete about the extent of the damage, but they are being worked on, says Lund Lefdal.
According to the police lawyer, everyone in the car is “relatively young” and all are Norwegian citizens.
Investigate the accident
The accident occurred when a car ran into the opposite direction and crashed into a truck.
The woman was trapped in the car for about 20 minutes. The other four got out of the car on their own but were injured in the crash, Oslo police told NTB on Saturday.
– What we do know is that there was a frontal collision between the car and the truck. At some point, the car entered the opposite lane. It will be part of the investigation to find out more about this, and at what point the car went through the wrong lane, the police prosecutor says.
The police will also collect video surveillance and interview witnesses. They currently have no information on drug involvement, but further investigation will find out, he adds.
The train driver was unharmed. He made a statement on the scene and is now being assisted by his employer, Lund Lefdal says.
