Emirates news agency – Al Safa Park in Dubai hosts the 13th edition of the “Beat Diabetes” initiative.

DUBAI, 4th November 2019 (WAM) – The activities of the 13th edition of the annual “Beat Diabetes” initiative, the leading social initiative at the level of diabetes awareness, in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, the Dubai Health Authority and Al Jalila Foundation, and organized by Landmark Group, will be launched on November 12, in support of World Diabetes Day, which falls on November 14 each year in Dubai’s Al Safa Park.

The initiative includes a series of activities through which the group aims to fight diabetes.

The initiative’s activities will be launched with the 3.8km “Beat Diabetes Walk” in conjunction with the Dubai Fitness Challenge activities to encourage participants to adopt a healthy lifestyle by engaging in sporting activities on a daily basis.

The initiative’s activities will also include many activities suitable for the whole family, including “Bungee Run” competitions, a challenge track, “Giant Jenga” game, Zumba, Bollywood-inspired entertainment and live concerts.

As part of its participation in the initiative, the Dubai Health Authority will conduct free tests to check blood sugar levels and body mass index, as well as provide health and nutritional advice to all participants.

The Landmark Group will donate all proceeds from this charity event to the Al Jalila Foundation, the non-profit global health organization founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Sovereign of Dubai, “May God protect him.” Plus, every 10,000 steps it takes. During the event, a donation of 10 dirhams will be made to the “Beat Diabetes” fund supported by the Al Jalila Foundation for the medical treatment of patients with diabetes complications, which Landmark Group is committed to contributing one million dirhams per year to support him over the next five years.
