The session took place in the presence of Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, president of the Sharjah Book Authority, and Khawla Al Mujaini, general coordinator of the exhibition, entitled “Maqamat with my Al Jawhar servants”.
The artist Abadi Al Jawhar thanked the organizers of the exhibition, stressing that words fail to express his cultural role, and said: “Sharjah is the home of art”, explaining that he embraced it at the beginning of his artistic career, and presented an evening in 1974 as part of a musical tour in the Emirates, which included Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, and stressed that the Sharjah Book Fair is a great event that has established itself, wishing to attend its upcoming sessions.
Al-Jawhar revealed that his upbringing in Jeddah shaped his personality, given the civil and human exchange of the Red Sea bride, and the ethnic, cultural and musical colors, as he considers it an inspiring city. and he was 14 years old, then the great artist Talal Maddah called him to hear his voice, at the suggestion of the artist Lotfi Zaini, and also visited him to convince his family to sing, so he signed a technical contract with him directly through the company “Riad Phone” which he owned while he was in At that age he encouraged and supported him a lot, as he consulted him in his melodies, and composed for him at the age of 17, at a time when great composers wanted to compose for him , and it was 1972.
Regarding his memories with Talal Maddah, he said: “Talal told me you have six fingers”, as a result of the speed of essence in playing the oud, and hence the nickname “Octopus of the Oud”, after of which others called him “the ambassador of sadness”, indicating that these titles sometimes bothered him because he was a social artist by nature, but the association of words and their song with abandonment, squalor, core and distance is what gave these impressions.
The artist talked about the Gulf art and the honor it has received in various countries of the Arab world, and the cooperation it has gathered with Emirati poets and artists, where he sang the words of the poems of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Sovereign of Dubai, may God protect him, has collaborated with a group of artists and composers, and soon you will see the light of a song from his compositions that will be presented by the artist Ahlam.
He said: “The musical heritage is rich and diverse, but artists have not used more than 25% so far.” There is a great movement in support of the arts.
Al-Jawhar sang to the audience of the exhibition a group of his songs, such as “As if you were my love”, the song “Mirrors” and “They said:” See the owner of hope in his vicinity if one day “, and also sang “Your eyes are my last hope” with his authentic way of playing the oud that characterizes it, while the audience insisted. instrumental originals, in the midst of a great interaction from the audience.
