Poor Vakula from “Evenings on a farm near Dikanka” has suffered a miserable fate

The artist failed.

Yuri Tavrov became famous for the role of the blacksmith Vakula in the film Evenings on a farm near Dikanka. Spectators and critics were delighted with his brilliant play, noting that even with a facial expression the artist managed to convey a lot of emotions. However, despite his success, he failed to build a successful career.

The role in Alexander Rowe’s film was a diploma for Tavrov. Subsequently, he auditioned for various films, but only starred in six and only in episodic roles. And after a while, he completely disappeared from the screens.

As the relatives were sure, the reason for this is the actor’s first wife. Others have suggested that his career has been in decline due to Tavrov’s love of parties. As a result, in order to somehow feed himself, the artist was forced to change profession and become a builder and painter. A few years later, he stopped working altogether, as he almost completely lost his sight.

In the last years of his life, Yuri Tavrov lived in Odessa practically on a pension. He always turned off Rowe’s famous fairy tale about her when he saw her on TV, as it hurt him to watch her lost career. The screen star died in 2010.
