Discussion in 15 departments … Looking for innovation plans for local newspapers
On the 4th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold the “2022 Regional Journalism Conference” at the Government Sejong Convention Center in the city of Sejong.
Under the theme “Great Restoration, Local Newspapers,” we will discuss development directions that can renew existing systems and perceptions, such as how local newspapers operate and how they view readers and content.
In three parts, the discussion is divided into 15 subsections, including 9 general subsections, 3 planning subsections and 3 special subsections.
In the general section, 28 good practices of local newspapers are shared in the areas of reporting and editing, innovation of local newspapers and future strategies and activation of regional contributions. The Award of the Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the President’s Award for Development of the Regional Newspaper are awarded to 10 excellent cases.
In the Design Division, the works that have passed the preliminary screening of the ‘Eye of the Future Reader’ competition and the expert conferences will be unveiled. This year a competition was held for news content produced on the major issues of our country. The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism will award the Korea Press Promotion Foundation President’s Award to four cases selected through on-site screening.
In the special section, discussions on current issues in the Chungcheong area are held.
The local newspaper conference is the fifteenth one this year. Local journalists, academics and residents come together to discuss current issues in the local media and share their findings.
