Amid difficult economic conditions, hard currency shortages and preparations to host the International Climate Summit in a few days, the crisis of Egyptian singer Sherine Abdel Wahab has been among the most worried Egyptians of recent times, both in the media and on communication platforms, according to an AFP report that has been monitoring the problems the famous actress has been facing in the last period.
The brother of the famous singer revealed the characteristics of the crisis about two weeks ago, when he announced in an intervention on a satellite channel that he and his mother had deposited Abdel Wahab in a sanatorium for the treatment of addictions.
Abdel Wahab’s “last” crisis began at the end of last year after her separation from her husband, Egyptian singer Hossam Habib, which did not come smoothly, but was material for media professionals and users. social media platforms, especially since the couple quarreled with each other in court.
Following her split, Abdel Wahab, who is considered by many to be the most important Egyptian singer of recent years, appeared at a concert in the UAE in December 2021 with a new appearance for her and her followers, as she was shaved and said : “Please accept me like this.”
“Sherine is one of the rare talents in the arts community and is considered an extension of the precious hierarchical voices in the Arab world,” Musicians Syndicate spokesman Tarek Mortada told AFP.

Abdel Wahab first began his artistic career on the singing scene two decades ago with a joint album with Egyptian singer Tamer Hosni called “Free Mix 3”, which sold around 20 million copies, and was able to book her place on the list of the most important singers in the Arab world of the moment.
He released eight albums, the last of which bore the name “Nasai” in 2018, along with many singles and movie songs. She had a unique film experience in the comedy “Mido Problems” in 2003, and she also starred in a drama, which is the “My Way” series in 2015.
Abdel Wahab has won numerous awards at various festivals in the Arab world, and has participated for three seasons on the jury of the famous song program “The Voice”, the Arabic version.

With the escalation of the Abdel Wahab crisis, the Egyptians have ridiculed the great interest of the media in this matter: for example, a made-up photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin was spread over the phone and wrote: “Let’s go to Ukraine, what are the news of Sherine Abdel Wahab “, referring to the media hype.
An audio recording was also released, which would have been a leak of a phone call made by Abdel-Wahab in recent days, in which she speaks of having been the subject of a conspiracy. But the recording, which has been heard by millions of people, is outdated, according to the AFP’s fact-finding service.
Both the singer’s ex-husband on the one hand and her family on the other have exchanged accusations of attempts to exploit her morally and materially, as well as accusations of ill-treatment amounting to beatings.
This appeared through the major Egyptian media program Amr Adib, in which Sherine’s brother and her ex-husband had two phone calls during which they presented their novels, but the truth on the matter remains absent with the disappearance of the Egyptian singer. .
“My sister is subjected to a gang that wants to harm her,” said Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, referring to her ex-husband Habib, who was previously accused by the singer’s family of assaulting her.
However, Habib denied it, saying, “I’ve never been violent in my life to a woman … that’s not my upbringing,” adding, “It never happened that I (Shireen) took a single pound from her.” .
This happened despite Abdel Wahab’s latest statement on his official Facebook page confirming his reconciliation with Habib in matters between them “in the interest of continuing the good relationship between them.”
Violence against women is not uncommon in the Arab country, which has a population of around 104 million.
The Violent Crime Observatory, according to the Egyptian Foundation for Development and Equality, recorded 813 violent crimes against women and girls last year, up from 415 in 2020.
In his latest television appearance early last month, Abdel Wahab said, looking better, commenting on what the newspapers had previously reported about his addiction crisis: “There is drug addiction, eating and bad habits, not just drugs “.

This isn’t the first time Abdel Wahab has raised controversy, as the Egypt Musicians’ Syndicate suspended her from work in late 2017.
And she was later sentenced in February 2018 to 6 months in prison for convicting her for posting fake news because she made a joking comment at one of her concerts when one of her fans asked her to sing one of her most famous songs, which it is “The one who drank from the Nile”, and Abdel Wahab replied that anyone who drinks from the Nile gets sick with schistosomiasis.
She was acquitted in May of the same year.
Sherine also caused a huge media frenzy a few years ago when she announced her retirement from art in early 2016, and then withdrew that decision after just a few days.
The Egyptian singer recently received dozens of messages of support from her fellow artists in Egypt and abroad.
