Interim Health Minister Firas Al-Abyad said: “Our effort today is focused on avoiding a dangerous phase in the face of cholera and the caretaker does not stop when it comes to addressing health problems.”
In an interview with MTV, Al-Abyad indicated that “we fear the large-scale spread of cholera in three main areas, namely Akkar, particularly its western side, up to Miniyeh, the northern region of Baalbek, and the Bar The Elias region and its suburbs “.
He added: “We have called for the water pumping stations to be prioritized electricity and, with the arrival of Iraqi fuel, a solution should be found to this problem.”
He stressed that “medical and nursing staff will have priority in receiving the cholera vaccine and overcrowded places such as prisons, and 600,000 vaccines will reach Lebanon in the next six days”.
