Several hundred fake tickets have been sold since the beginning of the year to attend Orelsan’s concerts in Caen.
When the artist Orelsan returns to Caen, his concerts attract many fans. But also scams. Several hundred fake concert tickets have been circulating since the beginning of the year, according to the direction of the Zénith de Caen quoted by France blue.
“It is a phenomenon that has increased after the Covid crisis, and even more so during concerts like those of Orelsan, where tickets sell out very quickly, often to a rather young audience and where there is to wait”, explained Sylvie Duchesne, the director of the room at France Bleu.
18 people with the same ticket
These fake places are sold on online platforms such as Leboncoin or Vinted, or via social networks such as Facebook, often at great prices.
“We got used to the idea that we weren’t going to see Orelsan, but I looked anyway, like this, on Leboncoin, and I found an ad for places in the gold pit, at 65 euros each,” said Clémence. to our colleagues.
But when we arrived at the Zénith de Caen, “the barcode was invalid, so we went to the central counter and there they told us that the two tickets were fake”.
Another example, Thomas bought a friend’s seat but was surprised to discover upon arrival at the concert that his ticket had already been laid out at the entrance to the Zénith. “My friend thinks someone close to him took the photo of the ticket and sold it en masse on the Internet.” In total 18 people presented the same ticket at the ticket office.
“Wasted money that ends up in the pockets of thugs”
The director of the Zenith invites buyers to be careful when purchasing tickets.
“We really need the public, even in the face of temptation, not to buy a ticket outside the official sales sites, because it is wasted money, it ends up in the pockets of the thugs, and we can’t do anything after that,” recalls Sylvie Duchesne.
To avoid scams, he advises buyers to procure concert tickets directly through artists’ sales sites, or to go through official resale platforms, when they exist. We also advise against taking a photo of your ticket or leaving it in sight of others.
