NEW YOKR – New York City’s largest and most famous Halloween parade returns to Greenwich Village on Monday night for the 49th time, and once again it’s free for anyone who wants to come and watch from the sidelines or enter the costume competition.

This year’s party will feature hundreds of floats and characters and, for the first time in its history, will be led by an all-girls musical band from Brooklyn calling themselves The Brass Queens. The fun begins at 7pm and the tour extends along Sixth Avenue, from Canal Street to 15th Street, according to the organizers.

The Brooklyn United Marching Band was named this year’s Grand Marshalls.

A ticket is not required, but purchasing one has perks like VIP access and more options for attending the parade, from viewing and walking through it to helping support the work through donations. Find out more here.

It will honor The Raging Grannies, which promote world peace, justice, and social and economic equality by raising awareness through parodies and song skits, so expect even more energy in the streets of the parade.

“This year’s theme, Freedom, was not inspired by the people of New York, but by their need to have an experience in a place where fun is the main goal, to feel joy and the freedom to be. what you are, ”said artist and production director of the parade, Jeanne Fleming, in a statement.

“Throughout history, when our country faced difficult times, people flocked to the parade because it gave them the freedom to forget what was going wrong and enjoy what was in front of them.”
