As long as the PlayStation exists .. Call of Duty will be released on it, according to the head of Xbox

“We will not take Call of Duty off the PlayStation,” is the message from Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer today. Spencer recently discussed the future of the game if Activision was acquired and made his clearest comments in a new podcast interview with YouTubers Justine and Jenna Ezarik.

Spencer says inside podcast I photograph with them:

“As long as there is a PlayStation available to release the game on, our goal is to continue releasing it on PlayStation. Similar to what we did with Minecraft, since we had it, we have expanded the places where people could play Minecraft. We haven’t scaled down seats, which has been good for the gaming community in my opinion, and I want to do the same by thinking about where Call of Duty can go. “

While there have been general swings over the future of the game between Sony and Microsoft, Spencer has compared Call of Duty to Minecraft twice recently. Speaking at the Wall Street Journal tech conference last week, Spencer also hinted at plans to bring the shooter game to Nintendo Switch and treat the franchise like Minecraft and keep it on rival platforms.

Spencer said:

“Call of Duty in particular will be available on PlayStation”. “I’d love to see it on Switch and I’d love to see the game playable on many different screens.”

Fans of the game have been debating whether Microsoft will make the game Xbox exclusive since news of Microsoft’s acquisition of the game was announced. Activision is worth $ 68.7 billion earlier this year. Spencer was quick to say publicly that Microsoft had “a desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation,” but that Sony’s written commitment was not enough to forestall the concerns of rival device makers.

Spencer made a written commitment to PlayStation boss Jim Ryan earlier this year to keep the game on his platform “for many more years” following Sony’s current marketing agreement with Activision.

Microsoft also claims that keeping the game on PlayStation is a “business necessity for the Xbox business and transaction economy” in its allegations against the UK competition regulator. Microsoft says it will jeopardize revenue if it withdraws from PlayStation and that “the company has been clear that it depends on revenue from the distribution of Activision Blizzard games on PlayStation.”
