1. Position: Help the person having a heart attack to sit down, rest and try to stay calm.
2. Loosen the clothes the person is wearing, do not let the tight clothes make the person even more cramped.
3. Ask if the person is taking chest pain medications, such as nitroglycerin for a known heart condition. If a drug is taken, it helps the person with a known heart attack to take it.
4. If the pain does not go away with rest or within 3 minutes of taking the medicine, consult a doctor immediately.
5. If the person is unconscious and unresponsive, call an ambulance or local emergency number, then perform CPR while waiting.
6. If the infant or child is unconscious and unresponsive, perform CPR for 1 minute and then call an ambulance, hospital, or local emergency number.
For the record, in helping people with heart attacks, there are some things that shouldn’t be done. First, don’t leave the patient alone except to ask for help if needed. Don’t let the person deny the symptoms and persuade them not to call for help, ignore the request.
Also, we don’t have to wait to see if the symptoms go away, and finally, it is forbidden to give the patient anything orally except the heart medications that have been prescribed.
