Planning uncertainty due to the war in Ukraine and its aftermath is currently slowing down Bergisch’s companies: in view of the future, half of Bergisch’s companies want to drastically reduce their planned investments.
The offices of the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Bergisches Land say so. According to the IHK, companies’ expectations for the next 12 months have continued to deteriorate. Only 16% of the companies in Oberberg are planning more investments, in Rheinisch-Bergisch it is 17%.
There are rays of hope, especially in the hotel and restaurant sector, which has managed to recover during the summer, but also looks at winter with skepticism. Many companies also want to go into the future with fewer staff, according to the IHK.
The main risks for Bergisches Land companies remain the prices of energy and raw materials, which continue to rise.
