Spotlights in place and camera activated. On Monday 24 October, the hall of the Ô Safari restaurant, in Sens, was transformed into a real filming location. In front of the camera: Ophelia Jones, a young revival of the song Senonaise. For almost three years, the young woman seriously took up the musical bath. A path that takes a new turn with the production of a video clip. “He is the first one I really want to highlight,” says the 30-year-old, supported by Didier Volberg, president of the Senonaise Vita’zik association, dedicated to promoting young artists. The day before, the first day of shooting ended.

Arrived in Yonne four years ago, first in Tonnerre then in Sens, the author, composer and interpreter wishes to highlight her city of residence. From the cathedral to the quays, all the key points of the Sénonaise city have passed. “There are really beautiful places, it would be a shame not to value them.” For the occasion, about fifty extras lent themselves to the game after a call launched on social networks. “I didn’t expect so many people, plus he wasn’t paid, I really appreciate the gesture.”

A personal piece

“Go out”. An injunction to name this new piece and associated clip. Behind this order, a very personal story. “The song refers to a time in my life when I wasn’t doing very well, I had just moved into the area and was feeling really alone.” The text thus translates a desire to escape, in short: “the desire to get out of this suffocating everyday life”.

This first large-scale project follows other previously made drafts, including “some essays in English”. A dexterity between the languages of Molière and Shakespeare but also between styles, with songs “ranging from pop to soul”.

Some other videos were made by the artist, including one dedicated to his former students. Because yes, before entering the world of song, Ophelia Jones was practicing in a completely different register: secondary education. “I was a French teacher at the Saint-François de Sales college in Troyes, explains the artist, I wanted to greet my students in a somewhat original way with a clip and music”.

Singer seeks producer

The publication of “Sors” is scheduled for November on streaming platforms and on Youtube. And then?? Ophelia Jones announces from the outset “working on an EP”, an extended play, meaning by this a record longer than a single but shorter than an album. Entitled “Monochrome”, this production will be released along with a second music video. Release scheduled for February.

Without a label or a producer for the moment, the young singer makes her way and remains positive: “There are interesting encounters that can lead to future collaborations”. Overflowing with enthusiasm, Ophelia Jones laughs: “If there are producers who listen to me, bye I’m here.”
