Reinier van Arkel’s patient files were also caught in a hack

File data from 184 clients of mental health organizations Reinier van Arkel and Ypse in Den Bosch was captured in the major health file hack earlier this week. This is confirmed by the health authority on its website. All affected customers have been informed by the institution. It is not known exactly what kind of data is involved.

The data theft occurred at Carenzorgt, a customer portal. Around 9,000 healthcare organizations in the Netherlands use it to share digital health records and personal data. Nedap, the developer of that program, reported the hacking and has since shut down the information leak, says Reinier van Arkel.

“As the privacy of customer data is at stake, which we deeply regret, we believe it is of the utmost importance to inform affected customers about this as soon as possible,” reports Reinier van Arkel on their website. All customers whose data has leaked have already received an email about it a few days ago. People who have not received an email can assume that their personal data has not been leaked.

Nationwide, thousands of organizations use Carenzorgt. Earlier this week it was announced that documents containing personal data had also been stolen from the Het Laar health institution in Tilburg. It is not known how many injured customers are involved. In total, around 250,000 customers use Carenzorgt.
