Hanoi (VNA) – The Government Office held a regular press conference on October 29, providing information on the socio-economic situation in October and the first 10 months, as well as on issues of concern to the public and the press.

At the press conference, Deputy Health Minister Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong said that since the beginning of 2022, the Ministry of Health has focused all its resources on granting drug registration certificates to ensure supply. To date, authorities have extended over 10,000 drug registration certificates until the end of 2022.

The Ministry of Health has issued numerous directives to guarantee the supply of medicines, in particular rare and difficult to supply medicines. It has also helped drug manufacturers and importers to identify fluctuations in the pharmaceutical market in order to develop appropriate procurement plans and meet hospital treatment needs.

In the near future it will renew the registration of drugs in the direction of the maximum reform of administrative formalities.

The Ministry of Health will also propose to the government to issue a specific reserve mechanism for some medications rare and necessary for the treatment of rare diseases; adopt policies to encourage national pharmaceutical companies to produce “orphan” drugs to ensure national supply. Information technology will be enhanced to link drug manufacturing, import and export facilities to monitor supply, enabling timely adjustments. – VNA
