A man broke into the home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the third largest in power in the United States, and attacked her husband with a blunt weapon.

Pelosi was away from home on a campaign to support the countryside.

Police believe the attacker committed a crime against President Pelosi from the start.

This was reported by correspondent Wang Jong-myung from Washington.

The three-story home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in an affluent San Francisco neighborhood.

At around 2:30 am local time on the 28th, a man broke the glass on the back door and broke in, then threw a blunt weapon at her husband, Paul Pelosi, who was at home.

The two men were discovered by police during a regular patrol at Pelosi’s home.

“The suspect took a blunt weapon from Mr. Pelosi and attacked him mercilessly. Our agents immediately knocked him down, disarmed and arrested him.”

Paul Pelosi, an 82-year-old financial businessman, was shot in the head and body with a blunt weapon and was transported to the hospital for surgery.

Police released the identity of 42-year-old David DePaper.

Upon entering the house, he shouted, “Where is Nancy?” and said, “I tried to tie up my husband until Nancy got home.”

However, he said investigations are ongoing into the specific reason for the visit to the home.

Rather, President Biden said the guilty’s statements showed political motives.

“The author shouted the same slogan he used when he raided the Capitol on January 6 (last year). The slogan was” Where’s Nancy “and” Where’s Nancy? ”

In fact, several posts were found on the criminal’s Facebook page stating conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election and the intrusion into the Capitol.

At the time of the attack, Pelosi was not the target of the crime as he was in Washington DC campaigning for the midterm elections.

However, the controversy over poor security is spreading with shock that the home of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the third power in the United States, was opened unprotected less than ten days before the election.
