Large resources have been doing firefighting work overnight after a fire broke out in an apartment building in Skien in Telemark on Friday night.

At five o’clock on Saturday morning, the firefighters report that they are carrying out the extinction and the control, and they have about ten teams left in the area.
– It’s an old condominium and an old wooden house that is always difficult to have full control of before it goes completely out, explains Tom Berger, head of service at switchboard 110.
The police operations manager also explains that it was difficult for the firefighters to enter the farm due to the risk of landslides.
The police received the first report at 8:38 pm. A fire was initially reported in a single-family home, but when the emergency services arrived, it was discovered that it was an apartment building with several housing units that burned heavily.
The neighbors were evacuated because there was a lot of smoke in the area.
Residents of the area were asked to keep doors and windows closed. Many were evacuated to stay in hotels, which the municipality has organized.
The owner of the condominium intervened on the spot together with the carabinieri, who say that no one should have been in the building. No one was even reported injured.
There were good extinguishing conditions, with rain and little wind. Firefighters took control of the flames closer to two and have since extinguished them, so they don’t reignite.
VG has been in contact with whistleblowers who believe fireworks were detonated in the area on the night of the fire, but police are currently unsure whether this could be the cause of the fire.
Telemark Newspaper writes that the same building burned down on January 12 this year. Forensic investigations showed that the fire then broke out in two places and the hypothesis was that the fire was arson.
